The Longest Zipline in Austria: Our Family Experience

We visited Hallstatt during the summer and discovered an exhilarating addition to our journey—Zipline Stoderzinken, located about an hour’s drive away from the village. This zipline is the longest in Austria, stretching 2.5 kilometers across alpine terrain. It was a decision we didn’t regret, especially for our kids, who were thrilled with the speed and the stunning aerial views.

To reach the zipline from Hallstatt, you’ll need to drive about 60 kilometers along the scenic B145 and B320 roads, heading towards Gröbming. Booking Your Zipline Adventure

While it’s possible to book your ride at the base station, we highly recommend booking online at least a day before, especially during the peak season. Zipline reviews

  • Great experience, it was worth it. Even my 9-year-old son made it. A little slower at the check-in, but we managed everything in time
  • It’s a good idea to leave early in the morning because the parking lot fills up very quickly. There are two rope centers in the forest. One for youth and adults and the other for smaller children. It is free for children. During the holidays, the exit further up to the via ferratas is charged 20 euros/1 car. Otherwise, you can ride the bus for free with the Sommercard. The views from the via ferrata are wonderful
  • While riding the bus to the beginning of the attraction, I expected adrenaline fun. Then when the brake released and dropped me into the deep, it was just fun. I recommend it for fun, I don’t recommend it for the faint of heart and smaller children. You avoid the hassle of going back by bus. Most importantly, you will not delay at the top. Downstairs at the entrance to the area is also a very nice rope center where all age groups can go crazy.
