Another favorite is Rudolfsturm, up near the Skywalk. After a hike or funicular ride, this is the place to enjoy a hearty meal with a mountain view. Their goulash and strudel never disappoint.

If you want something quick and satisfying, try Burgerman – The Station. It’s right near the parking area and has great burgers, fries, and vegetarian options. I stopped here after a hike — the food hit the spot, and service was friendly.

Traveling with family or friends? Dormio Resort Obertraun is a fantastic option just across the lake. I love the space, modern cabins, and how close it is to the Obertraun beach and the Dachstein Krippenstein cable car. It’s perfect if you plan to hike, ski, or explore Obertraun’s many outdoor activities.

If you’re traveling with kids or just watching your budget, there are plenty of cozy options too.

Pension Sarstein offers beautiful rooms with lake-facing balconies at a lower price point. The garden and sun terrace were a lovely surprise.

For something a bit more traditional, check out Gasthof Simony. Its central location near the lake and ferry makes exploring easy, even on foot.

And for the adventurous, there are great hostels and camping options near Hallstatt in places like Obertraun or Bad Goisern. These are perfect if you’re hiking or road-tripping through the region.

To capture Hallstatt’s quiet charm, explore the village before 9 AM or after 6 PM, especially in summer. The narrow streets empty out, and you’ll have peaceful moments by the lake or at the market square.

While drone photography can capture breathtaking views, it’s important to know that Hallstatt is not drone-friendly, especially within the village. Locals value their privacy, and drones often disturb both residents and visitors. In general, flying a drone here is strongly discouraged.
